What is Second Life?

With computing power and high speed Internet access increasing significantly around the world, Internet users have an opportunity to experience advanced On Demand services such as Music, Video and Gaming services in a 3D virtual multi-user online environment called Second Life. Second Life is owned and operated by Linden Research Inc. (Linden Lab), San Francisco, CA, USA

Linden Research Inc developed the software and manage the servers for Second Life. They have created the basic framework of the platform and then provided users known as residents with the ability to build and create the inworld virtual environment. Residents of Second Life use an inworld fictional currency called the Linden Dollar (L$) to exchange goods and services. The license to use the Linden currency can then be sold to other users in return for US dollars using one of the two main currency exchanges; SL Exchange or the LindeX.

The World Stock Exchange has a virtual Trading Hall located on Hope Capital Island in Second Life. To visit the WSE in Second Life please go to SecondLife.com.
